"Julia Please see Sports MSG testimonial. The very best thing for me I discovered after a sports massage from Julia is that I had the potential to train with more quality, with more intensity. As part of a structured recovery program which she designed, the massage has the effect of hitting a reset button from the fatigue impact of a period of training. As a club cyclist training regularly and consistently for 3 years, with a structured, progressive 12 - 14 hour / week program. I was finding that I was beginning some training sessions in a really fatigued state and consequently the sessions were unexpectedly tough and sometimes unfinished. I wasn't achieving the progressive training adaption’s I wanted. Julia has an in depth physiological knowledge and I think understands the activity of cycling and its relationship to the body. The body posture, its position and functional movement, the way that muscles need to work to hold the position on the bike and to repeatedly contract to generate the power required. As a consequence of the activity, micro damage and tears to the muscles can happen; tensions are created in the ligaments, tendons and fascia tissue from repeated use. I used to try and manage this by stretching or by just putting up with it. I think that she is smart enough to discover and prioritise within a treatment or course of treatment, the muscle areas that need most work, and to communicate to the client what the massage is actually doing to the muscle and tissue to improve it. Immediately after the first session I felt there was a positive effect. I was in much better shape at the beginning of the next training sessions, having more belief, and a positive approach that the targets for that session were reachable. After a few sessions of massage from her I found that there was a cumulatively positive effect, both directly on condition of the muscle and surrounding tissue, but also consequently on performance levels. Julia was able to find the knots in my calf tissue and work through them, reducing them and breaking them down. Although the most immediately noticeable thing was that my muscles weren’t over tight after a consistent period of training. I have more flexibility and motion throughout the range of positions I use on the bike. I also have better circulation, a better supply of oxygen and nutrients going to the muscles as a result of the massage. Julia is no doubt a skilled specialist, in the immediate term, you feel good and more able to ride. After a medium or longer term program of massage as ongoing maintenance, the effect will be that the muscles can consistently work at a greater capacity from a more rested and ready state, your performance will increase and you’ll be much less injury prone. Her massage is restorative, you’ll feel good, and you’ll ride faster and longer. "

"Thank goodness I found Julia Clark Fitness through a recommendation two years ago. Massage therapy and a six week structured training plan enabled me to undertake a wonderful cycling trip in Majorca, even climbing the Sa Calobra with a decent time! Recently my wrist was seriously fractured in a cycling accident. Following surgery my GP made a referral to Julia for massage therapy to aide recovery. My doctor was obviously convinced of the huge benefits the first time around and so suggested it this time. After two, one hour home visits, full movement of my fingers has been restored and I have increased strength of grip. My surgeon was also impressed with the speed and quality of recovery so far. I cannot thank Julia enough and will continue our sessions until full recovery and beyond. Julia's flexibility must also be commended, I cannot drive at the moment and it was no problem for Julia to accommodate home visits making my life so much easier.
